Some photos for you fine folks! A lot of this is up on Ebay currently, so give me a shout if you’ve an interest.
If you’re ever unsatisfied with my work, in any way, I will do anything in my power to make sure you get models done up to what you want, within the standard paid for. Please understand that I am not painting Golden Demon, award-winning models here. The goal is to get your stuff looking good so you can play with it on the tabletop. As the hundreds of photographs on this website show, my tabletop quality is above the usual. If you’re unsatisfied with color scheme, or anything like that, I’m happy to take the models back and work on them until you are satisfied.
What I will not do is paint your models up to a 9 or 10 standard on a 7 or 8 commission rate. Please don’t try this as going forward I will no longer refund your money based on this juvenile stunt. This is my full-time work – I have to defend my name and my business. To everyone who’s supported me in the last five years of this, I thank you. For the people who inexplicably try to drag my name through the mud, you might want to take a look at who you are and decide if that’s the kind of person you really want to be.
Old Rogue Painting Services
Hi there everyone! Been working on a mountain of new stuff for the Ebay machine – but I wanted to show you what I play with regularly. I have a couple of friends who play Age of Sigmar also, and these guys are my current pride and joy. For those of you wondering if Old Rogue is right for you, keep in mind that this army took three days to paint at my usual speed!
Enjoy the photos!
Good afternoon folks – wanted to give you all a quick heads-up that I’ll be assisting Galladoria Games with their newest Kickstarter, Rise of the Mimics II. I’ll still be available for commissions of course – I always am! – and I’ll only be painting some of the mimics available. So if you get a mimic that doesn’t look like my work, chances are that it isn’t! There was some confusion about this last time, wanted to sort that out early.
Here’s the link!
A lot of projects that are nearly done on my end. Working on the new Khorne models, and a Slannesh army, and the new Grymkin. Also finally finished painting my own Gloomspite Gitz army, and am working on an army for Ebay over the next few weeks. It’s for Age of Sigmar, but I’m going to keep it under wraps until it’s finished!
Otherwise, no other news. Watch this space 🙂
Old Rogue Painting Services
Hey there folks! Old Rogue is still alive and kicking. It’s a little too on the nose to say that I haven’t updated since the previous “Redoing the Kickstarter” post, but frankly that’s where I’ve been until recently. February saw another awesome CaptainCon, where lots of you fine folk turned out to see me and ask me how business is, how I am, and even to buy some of the Warmachine models I had for sale at my booth. I’m there every year in Warwick, RI, so feel free to stop by!
The Forgeprints Kickstarter is now completed. I am currently working for a corporate client on seven hundred ten-inch-tall model miniatures, and am nearly done with that work. I do intend to work on Galladoria Games’ Kickstarter this summer, in whatever capacity they’ll have me. Otherwise, I know a few of you still have armies at my place, and at the end of April I intend to have satisfied my corporate client’s wishes and get right into them. A Warhammer 40k Centurion army, a Gatormen army for Hordes, and a Slannesh army for Age of Sigmar are all lurking in the corners of my studio, daring me to stray from my corporate path. And yet, I must keep my nose to the grindstone a while longer! Thank you all for your patience.
Here’s a little bit of what I’ve been working on in my (haha) spare time. I work twelve hours a day minimum for you guys, six or seven days a week. It gives me so much pleasure to get you all a product with which you’re happy. Please feel free to drop me a line anytime, even if it’s just to say hello. I’m still the luckiest man in the world to have such splendid clients.
Good morning! For those of you checking in on the Kickstarter this morning, you’ll have a message from Kevin (who owns and operates ForgePrints) in your inbox. I don’t want to reiterate what he’s said in too much detail here, but essentially the following has occurred:
So far Old Rogue has painted – roughly, according to my estimates – about six or seven thousand tiles and accessories for this Kickstarter. A good many of these were floor tiles. They took spraypaint fine, and took paint fine, and once they were done I boxed them up and brought them down to Kevin. Unfortunately it turns out that the mold release agent was used in too high a quantity and, over time, chemically bonded with the primer. This resulted in some flaking paint, especially on the adobe floor tiles. Naturally this sets us back a bit, both financially and with release time.
Fortunately, once the tiles are scrubbed a bit in warm water, and primer reapplied, they take paint fine. All the mold release agent has been removed by the initial priming, and it doesn’t rub off unless you really, really work at it – say, with a rotary grinder! So we don’t have to recreate the thousands of tiles I already put paint on, which is good news for everyone, especially Kevin, as this resin is top quality stuff and not cheap!
All this means for Old Rogue is that I work a lot longer hours for the foreseeable future, and order a lot of paint. It’s a setback, but there are a few things I’d like you to keep in mind if you would.
Firstly, Old Rogue is absolutely still taking commissions and trying to turn them around in a reasonable time frame. I’ve done loads of work for people since CaptainCon and don’t see any amount of tiles changing that. So many of you have come back for additional work over the years and I appreciate that so much. The tile refurbishing will all be done in my own time and shouldn’t actually take all that long – I’m getting really good at painting tiles.
Secondly, I want to reaffirm that I have always been committed to pushing out the best quality for your money. There were a number of ways whereby we could have tried to “seal the paint in” with a varnish or similar product; but instead we’re getting you guys the best painted tiles that we can. I’m never going to back away or reduce my commitment to that.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to email me. I always love talking with you good folks. And now it’s back to the painting mines for me 🙂 Have a lovely commission for some post-apocalyptic roleplayers to finish up today.
Happy Painting – and thank you all for your understanding and patience.
…in Old Rogue land. How’s everyone’s painting going?
Fear not Kickstarter fans! I work on other projects in the evening, so don’t be worried that you don’t see tiles here. 🙂 Just gave a mountain of stuff to Kevin at Forge Prints today for sorting, but still so much more to do!
